Kobus Prinsloo is a fourty-something Capetonian, a born craftsman and trained optometrist. After ten years of being involved with and even owning various optometry practices, Kobus has learnt much about the broader public’s wants and needs. It was only in 2009 that Kobus regained his passion for design that he set off on a venture to not only design, but also manufacture, quite appropriately, spectacles and sunglasses. His late grandfather, a master carpenter and violinmaker – as well as friends and family who work within a wide array of creative industries – have contributed to Kobus’ great love for art, design, and more specifically – woodwork. His love for the bush-veld (the African country-side, for those beyond the African borders), has greatly contributed to his production, and he has consequently been drawing inspiration from the outdoors to produce his hand-made objects.
Design and manufacture almost anything from timber (and other materials), making functional and unique objects.
